North Branch Broncos – 2016 Preview

North Branch

For the past 6 years, North Branch has lived on the bubble, they have been to the playoffs twice but have hovered in between 4 and 6 wins each one of those years.  After two 4-5 years, the Broncos are ready to get over the hump and back into the post-season after a two year hiatus.  They were a TD away from a winning record last year and 2 away from making the post-season.  NB will look to a defense that returns 5 starters and an experienced LB core to pace them early on in the season.

Position Unit(s) Of Strength This Year
We return a lot at the LB position. Going into this season that is our best group. We return several guys that ran the ball for last year in Mitch Bonner, Zach Mindelli, and Mike Lilly. Our Wr play has improved a great deal over the summer.

Key Contributors Lost To Graduation
1 st team Safety, 2nd Team QB Mac McGough; 1st team DT Jake Badar; 2nd team O-line/ DE, Davin Friday; 2nd team LB Jake Davis we graduated 21 seniors last year including our leading rusher, passer, receiver, on offense. On defense we lose our top tackler and interception leader.

Coach Hensel’s thoughts on the upcoming season – We have a very hard working group of young men. Our Schedule is extremely challenging. I believe everyone we play will be improved from last year. Yale is going to bring a very talented, athletic, and physical team to the week one opener. Do to our youth and inexperience we have to really take advantage of every practice to get as much out of it as possible. As always I am very excited to get the season underway. This team has been very fun to coach so far early on.
